The Spirit of Moonee Valley Community Awards celebrates the achievements and contributions of our local community heroes. Nominations for 2013 are now open.
What is the nomination process?
An individual, community organisation, business, professional body or similar group can be nominated.
For someone to be eligiable for the awards, they must:
- either live, work or study in Moonee Valley
- be 16 years or over by the date of the awards ceremony (Friday 11 October 2013)
- be an Australian citizen
Nominations for 2013 run from Monday 3 June and close at 5pm on Friday 9 August.

What are the award categories?
There are three award categories.
- Meritorious Award
The first level of awards, received by nominees for their contributions. - Outstanding Service Award
The second level of awards, received by nominees for contributions considered outstanding. - Citizen of the Year
From the Outstanding Awards category, one is chosen as the Citizen of the Year for contributions which have gone above and beyond. This person will have demonstrated leadership, initiative and example and made an outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of a positive “community spirit” within the City of Moonee Valley.
What are the prizes?
Each finalist will receive a trophy acknowledging their contribution to the community. Those finalist in the Outstanding Service Award will also receive an award of $250 to be donated to their charity or community group (not for profit) of their choice.
The Citizen of the Year will receive a trophy as well as an award of $3,000 to be donated to their charity or community group (not for profit) of their choice.
