Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple actions to deliver a power message. The inaugural Earth Hour took place in Sydney on 31 March 2007, when 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney businesses turned off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour. It has grown to millions of people in over 5000 cities across 135 countries.
Earth Hour symbolises the collective power of individuals, businesses and governments to reduce our impact on this planet.
Earth Hour is not about saving an hour’s electricity, it’s about uniting people to protect the planet. And the best thing? Every one of us can be a part of it.
Essendon Blog supports Earth Hour and invites friends and families to switch-off for one hour on Saturday 31st March. Pledge your support for Earth Hour and find out more about the lights-out campaign at http://wwf.org.au/earthhour/
