Three local citizens who were recipients of the Order of Australia awards announced last weekend.
- Embroidery pioneer Lesley Uren of Avondale Heights, last weekend received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the Australia Day honours. She has been a strong advocate for embroidery and was a founding member of the Embroiderers Guild Victoria
- Professor Andrew Cochrane, of Essendon, received an OAM for his service to adolescent and adult congenital heart disease as a clinician, research and educator, and for his humanitarian and philanthropic contributions.
- Moonee Ponds resident Carolyn Bond received an OAM for service to the community through protecting consumers in relation to financial services as an advocate and counsellor, by providing legal assistance.
