Crafted by Hardy Brothers Jewellers, the 2012 Emirates Melbourne Cup trophy is valued at $175,000 and is created from 2,340 grams of solid 18ct gold which takes more than 250 man hours to produce.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival is comprised of four unique race days:
• DAY 1 Saturday – AAMI Victoria Derby Day – November 3
• DAY 2 Tuesday – Emirates Melbourne Cup Day November 6
• DAY 3 Thursday – Crown Oaks Day November 8
• DAY 4 Saturday – Emirates Stakes Day November 10
