The Essendon Theatre Company presents “Love and other Calamities: A season of one act plays” at its next production from 7th June to 16th June.

“Love or Nearest Offer” by Hugh O’Brien
Directed By Karen Parrott

Beverly has successfully run Love Of Your Life introduction agency for more than 20 years. When her silent partner dies, he leaves his half of the business to Reg -a knock about, no nonsense former car dealer. With his own ideas on how to move merchandise and a romantic itch that needs scratching, Reg has no intention of remaining silent!
“The Wedding Story” By Julianne Homokay
Directed by Cat Cummins

“The Wedding Story” is a play narrated by a storyteller, bride, and groom. It begins with the storyteller reading aloud to the audience wanting to tell them a “happily ever after” story. The bride and groom have other ideas, continually correcting the storyteller about the real goings on of their relationship.
“Do you come here often?” By Samantha-Ellen Bound
Directed by Samantha-Ellen Bound and Rhiannon Dummett

It is Saturday night and Leigh is at her favourite nightclub. Twenty minutes ago she disappeared into the ladies toilets. She is not busting. She is not hiding from a drunken admirer with his eye on the prize. She is not waiting for her friends.
The ladies room sees the usual types pass in and out: Tally who is busting, Jess who does have a drunken admirer, Rose who is hiding from her friends, and Nicole, about to get married. Each finds an enthusiastic and sympathetic ear in Leigh, who is as willing to talk as she is to listen. Is it just female cammadarie, or is there a reason she has chosen to haunt this most unlikely of places? And once these ladies walk in, will she ever let them out?
