Two local residents have been recognized for their contribution to their community.
East Keilor resident Don Tucker has been formally recognised with a Council on the Ageing Victoria “Senior Achiever Award”. After retiring as a bank manager in 1997 he joined Holloway Aged Care Services and has played a large part in its expansion from a 40-bed low-care centre to a 70-bed low and high-care facility.
Mr Tucker is also a volunteer for Moonee Valley Meals on Wheels and the Keilor East RSL welfare fund. He has been a member of the Keilor East Rotary Club since 1983.
He was one of 13 seniors presented with a ‘senior achiever award’ at the Victorian Senior of the Year awards at Government House on September 30.
Mr Bruce Cameron has been named Moonee Valley’s Citizen of the year. His community involvement has spanned many years and many causes. Among the most notable has been to help build a school and community hall in an isolated community in the Northern Territory. He has also been involved with the Moonee Valley Foundation, an organisation that raises funds to help young adults. Mr Cameron has been an active member of Rotary for many years.
The Essendon and Moonee Valley Blog congratulations them and thanks them on behalf of the community for their efforts.
