Moonee Valley on target in water use

MOONEE Valley residents have embraced watersaving targets and cut their daily water use.

City West Water managing director Anne Barker said households throughout Moonee Valley were to be “commended for achieving remarkable savings in water consumption over recent years”.

She said stage 3a restrictions and the Target155 campaign, which encourages people to limit water use to 155 litres each per day, had seen weekly water usage figures drop.

Ms Barker said households regularly used between 139 and 154 litres a person each day since last month, compared with a daily average of 180 litres a person last summer.

Leader’s recent citywide My Melbourne survey revealed that 33 per cent of respondents were extremely concerned about Melbourne’s water shortage.

Local residents have also saved money by claiming rebates for watersaving products. .…More
