Awards for two Essendon Scouts

(Moonee Valley Leader)David “Wombat” Lyons of the 2nd Essendon Scout Group and Stephen Rahill of the 1/10th Essendon Scout group were awarded W.F. Waters awards for there Service to Scouting though the Keith Farquhar Rover Crew. The Crew meets on Fridays at St Johns Church hall in Essendon and is for young men and women aged 17 to 26. Current with 15 members, David and Steve are about to end there time as Rovers. During there time they have supported the Moonee Valley District Rowallan Camp site working bees, developed their own leadership skills and supported younger members of the crew.

Both Started as Cub Scouts (Children aged 7 to 11) and have moved though each age group of the Scouting Movement. David and Steve will now both move from Rovers to being Adult Volunteers for Scouting. David, A former Scout leader of 2nd Essendon will be a District Leader for Kariwara District and Steve has started as a Venturer Leader for the Maribyrnong Venturer Unit (Venturers are youth aged 15 to 17)

David and Steve also gave service to Scouting on a State level with Steve having been the Chairman of the 2008 Surfmoot event, that saw 500 Rovers enjoy a summer weekend camping in Anglesea with Live bands on stage each night and David has been a part of the Victorian Branch Rover council supporting the administration side of the Rover section that has 1000 members in the state.
