ESSENDON Rowing Club members impressed for Victoria at the Australian Masters Rowing Championships at Lake Nagambie last month.
The Victorian D Grade Quad Scull team, made up of Essendon rowers Richard Saul, Tim Juzefowicz, Stewart Allsop, and Bill Nugent, beat challengers from Queensland and New South Wales to win the title. Three of the crew also won a Victorian trifecta in the men’s D Grade Single Scull event.
Allsop won gold ahead of Saul (silver) and Nugent (bronze). Allsop was the star of the day for Victoria, collecting five gold medals from five events entered also winning the D Grade Double Scull, the C Grade Double Scull and the interstate D Grade Quad Scull.
Two other Essendon rowers, John Seale and Marion Camiller, won bronze in their mixed Double Scull final.
