A fitness and leadership program is working wonders for disruptive teens with behavioural and social problems. Following the success of his boot camp-style program in some Moonee Valley schools last year, fitness trainer Jamie Luscott has secured funding and will take on new Moonee Valley recruits next term.
Mr Luscott’s program Tomorrow’s Leaders Today is tailored for years 8 and 9 students and tackles behavioural and social problems through exercise, leadership and communication training, and mentoring. “There are boot camp-oriented fitness lessons and classroom-based lessons,” Mr Luscott said.
“It’s about goal setting and achieving goals and challenging students to make better of themselves. We use fitness as a tool to get their self-esteem up so they can hold their heads up high and focus on their goal, and give a sense of worth by being part of a team.” More…..
