New CEO appointed by Council

(Community News)SRI Lankan-born Rasiah Dev was yesterday appointed Moonee Valley’s new chief executive officer for the next five years, replacing Peter Black, who left on Friday. Mr Dev, 56, has two adult daughters and is married to a GP and accident and emergency specialist working in the south-eastern suburbs. He symbolises a new leadership team, joining mayor Paul Giuliano, who was elected last week.

Before coming to Moonee Valley in 2002, the former city works group manager worked at Darebin and Port Phillip councils. A structural engineer and project manager, he was responsible for designing Southgate and Melbourne Central, and also played a key role in the development of the Port Phillip foreshore. Mr Dev also has a wealth of experience in the private sector here and overseas, and is a one-time employee of the King of Bahrain.

The CEO is the only staff member appointed by the elected councillors. More…
