Brennan appointed as Bendigo GM
The Metricon Bendigo Bombers have announced that Jeff Brennan has been appointed as General Manager of the Club. Brennan replaces Peter Lodewijks who had filled the role of acting general manager following the departure of Matthew Allan. Brennan has spent the past three years as director and part-owner of SSMS Pty Ltd – a sports medical company that manufactures and distributes sports medical supplies and orthodics. He was also coach of local team Golden Square.
Essendon provide $316,000 to local clubs
Essendon Football Club Managing Director and CEO, Peter Jackson, today joined representatives from the club’s 10 affiliate sporting clubs to highlight the $316,000 financial support provided this year by the Bombers. Essendon is one of Australia’s largest affiliated sporting bodies and operates in conjunction with clubs throughout Melbourne’s north-western suburbs to help support thousands of local sports-people.
Houli takes the lead
Young Essendon midfielder, Bachar Houli, bore the fruits of the hard work he has put in over the preseason, out-doing fellow speedsters Heath Hocking and Brent Stanton yesterday, to finish first for the Bombers in the Ron Clarke Classic racing meet.
Stanton to wear the famous number 5
Exciting 21-year-old midfielder Brent Stanton has been given the honour of wearing the number 5 guernsey (made famous by James Hird) for the 2008 season. Stanton, who was taken with pick 13 in the 2003 draft and has.played 76 games, said he was thrilled to be given the honour.
