The Babes mask their intentions

(Community News)
A MASKED ball is the social, and fund-raising, highlight of the year for Moonee Valley’s dynamic philanthropic team, Brumby’s Babes.

As one of the longest-running supporters of Moonee Valley’s successful Relay for Life Cancer Council fund-raiser each year, the hard-working crew behind Brumby’s Babes holds several events throughout the year.

Since the all-girl group formed in 2001, it has raised almost $250,000. It is so named because its first main sponsor was member Cathy Nicou who, with husband Nic, owns Brumby’s Bakery franchises in Essendon and Moonee Ponds.

Organiser Sue Duras said: ”Our funds are directly supporting a cancer research project being run by Dr Ricky Johnstone at the Peter McCallum Institute. We are very grateful for the generous support of our donors and friends.

”The value of the research encourages us all to continue our fund-raising and look forward to when we will see more effective and specific drug therapy in the treatment of cancer.” More…..
