Fletcher prepared for emotional farewell
Bomber fans are preparing for an emotion-charged blockbuster this Saturday as two of Essendon’s greatest champions – James Hird and Kevin Sheedy – bid farewell to the red and black. Reliable defender Dustin Fletcher is not sure what to expect when the Bombers take on the Eagles at Subiaco but admits even he may get a little emotional given the occasion.
Lloyd and McPhee show their tricks
Essendon’s Matthew Lloyd and Adam McPhee have been recognised for two exciting pieces of play on the weekend with both players earning themselves a nomination in the AFL awards for the week. Lloyd has been nominated for this week’s Toyota AFL Mark of the Year after James Hird bombed the ball in from the 50m mark for Lloyd to mark in the goalsquare in the third quarter of last week’s match against Richmond.
Bendigo confident heading into finals
Bendigo Bombers coach, Matthew Knights, says his team will head into Saturday’s first Elimination Final against North Ballarat confident of a good showing. Last time the teams clashed North Ballarat recorded a 10 point win but Bendigo kicked poorly recording 11.19 (85) to 14.11 (95).
