Moonee Valley City Council is close to finalising arrangements with Readings to provide 100 additional short term parking spaces on its site in the Moonee Ponds Activity Centre.
Mayor Cr Ben Opie said parking changes were introduced around the activity centre in late April to coincide with the start of the Mirvac retail and office development in the former Coles Myer property on Hall Street.
As part of the development, access to car parking areas on the former Coles Myer site had to be closed to facilitate construction, Cr Opie said.
He said Council had negotiated with Readings, owners of the former Moonee Ponds Market site, over the last several weeks to lease 100 free 2-hour parking spaces fronting Hall Street but with access from Homer Street.
