Essendon Football Club News – Bombers overthrow old rivals

Bombers overthrow old rivals
Victory is sweet and appears nothing could have been more satisfying for the Bombers than sealing a ten-point win over old rivals Carlton at the MCG today. In a tight tussle which extended to the dying minutes of the match, football fans were kept on the edge of their seats, until Andrew Lovett goaled to provide Essendon with a much needed victory.

Selectors wield the axe
The Essendon selectors have wielded the axe this week with Ricky Dyson, David Hille, Damien Peverill and Jobe Watson all omitted from the side which is set to take on Carlton this Saturday. James Hird has been named to make his return to football this week after spending five weeks on the sidelines since injuring his calf in Round 14.

Essendon advises fans to book tickets
The Essendon Football Club is advising supporters to buy an entry ticket and a reserve seat for the Bombers’ historic clash with Richmond next weekend (Sunday, 26th August) to avoid disappointment.

Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation
Essendon’s clash with traditional rival Carlton this weekend will be even more colourful than usual with a number of Bomber players and staff wearing rainbow shoelaces to support Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation. The Foundation aims to make organ and tissue donation and awareness more prevalent in our community.
