Essendon Football Club News – Kevin Sheedy to rewrite the history books

Kevin Sheedy to rewrite the history books
Saturday night’s game against the Western Bulldogs at the Dome will be an historic night for Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy. An icon of the club, Sheeds will participate in his 879th official match as a player or coach, breaking the all-time VFL / AFL record established by Jock McHale.

Camporeale excited about Essendon’s future
On the eve of his 250th game, Essendon midfielder Scott Camporeale said he hopes to play on in 2008 – and possibly beyond – after over coming injury last year. Speaking at a media conference today, the former Carlton premiership player said he thinks the Bombers are on the up and could make a grand final in the near future.

Essendon to contest McVeigh charge
Essendon will contest the Mark McVeigh striking charge this afternoon in the hope of getting the Match Review Panel’s “high contact” assessment (two points) downgraded. Even if Essendon is successful at the Tribunal, McVeigh will still miss Saturday’s clash with the Western Bulldogs, however, a downgraded assessment will improve his record and will affect any future charges.

Bombers reload and prepare for Bulldogs
The Bombers have made five changes this week in an attempt to replenish an undermanned Essendon outfit. Scott Camporeale comes into the side to play is 250th game against the Western Bulldogs this Saturday night. He will be joined by Matthew Lloyd, Brent Stanton, Angus Monfries and Nathan Lovett-Murray.
