Construction of Shelter in Lincoln Park
Finally we can report that the construction of the shelter in Lincoln Park was completed on 15th June 2007 approximately 3 weeks from when it started The end result is that we now have a project that has taken a long time to come to fruition, but something that we, as members of the Lions Club of Essendon can be very proud of and hopefully this gazebo provides a meeting place for members of the community where they can spend time with their family and friends We have invited a member of the Morrison family to be present at the opening of the shelter which is dedicated to the memory of Lion Stan Morrison who gave so much of his time to the Lions Club of Essendon and our local community. The shelter will be officially opened by Mayor Ben Opie at 11am on Saturday 7th July 2007, which will be followed by a free sausage sizzle. Entertainment will be provided on the day by the Moonee Valley Brass Band Because this is such a special occasion, I would like to encourage the local community and Lions members and their families to attend the opening and support our club in providing this facility for members of the Essendon community.
