Lonergan and Hislop push for selection
Sam Lonergan and Tom Hislop have sent a strong message to Essendon selectors after playing an instrumental role in helping the Bendigo Bombers notch their third win for the season. Bendigo won convincingly defeating the Coburg Tigers by 52 points at Queen Elizabeth Oval, dominating the match for its entirety and never looking in danger of defeat.
Yellow armband to be incorporated into Essendon guernsey
A yellow armband will be incorporated into Essendon’s guernsey for the Round 13 Clash for Cancer game as part of the Call to Arms campaign being staged across Victoria on the weekend of June 23 and 24. Essendon managing director, Peter Jackson, said that while a compromise has been reached with the AFL, he is disappointed the Bombers could not wear a yellow armband.
Bombers make three changes for Sydney clash
Essendon selectors have swung the axe and made three changes to the side that just got home against Richmond in Dreamtime at the G. The team has added height with ruckman Jason Laycock recalled to support David Hille. Mark Bolton and Andrew Welsh have also been added to the team.
Bombers score famous victory at SCG
Essendon has scored one its most famous victories in recent years defeating the Sydney Swans by one point in a thriller at the SCG tonight. Essendon fans witnessed a vintage James Hird performance with fellow veterans Dustin Fletcher and Mal Michael also outstanding but it was a brilliant and committed team effort that won the night.
