Plenty of positives for Bendigo
The Bendigo Bombers are back on the winners list after putting an end to their four match losing streak, defeating the Frankston Dolphins by 23 points at Frankston Oval on the weekend. After allowing Frankston to control the momentum early and secure a 23-point lead heading into the first break, a diligent Bendigo unit fought unrelentingly to regain rule of the match. By half-time the Bombers had taken over the lead which they continued to build on for the remainder of the match to finish 23-point victors.
Sporting elite unite to tackle problem gambling
A new taskforce has been unveiled to tackle the issue of problem gambling in Victoria’s elite sporting ranks. Spearheaded by the Essendon Football Club, the Victorian Elite Sport Gambling Taskforce will coordinate regular forums where club executives, managers and key athletes from all the major sporting codes will have an opportunity to: hear from experts; listen to athletes’ personal experiences with gambling; discuss ways to identify and address gambling in sport; and develop a framework for tackling social issues in the sporting arena.
