Essendon Football Club News – Bombers’ fight falls short

Bombers’ fight falls short
The stage was set for a blockbuster match, as more than 90,00 fans packed the MCG to enjoy the ANZAC Day football spectacle. However Essendon was unable to join in the celebrations as Collingwood dominated the majority of the match to win by 16 points.

Bombers inject some run for Hawks clash
Essendon has recalled two-time best and fairest winner Jason Johnson along with midfielders Jason Winderlich and Andrew Welsh for Saturday match with Hawthorn at the MCG. Kepler Bradley and Jobe Watson have been omitted while Henry Slattery will miss with a hamstring injury.

Windy Hill: The Spiritual Home
Gary O’Donnell remembers Windy Hill fondly. There have been the great games and the memorable moments but as much as anything he recalls this as the venue that saved the life of his grandfather Leo. “He used to come and sit in the terraces with a group of friends and watch me play. Like all grandparents and parents he was biased they used to say he kept my stats with a fork. Every time he went to mark down one kick, he would mark down four,” O’Donnell laughs.
