Moonee Valley Mayor Cr Ben Opie is encouraging the community to attend the Citys 89th Anzac Day ceremony on Sunday, 22 April.
Held in conjunction with the Essendon RSL, the ceremony at the Cenotaph in Queens Park will commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the landing at Anzac Cove. Over 100 veterans from the Moonee Valley area are expected to march at the ceremony, which begins at 2:55pm.
The ceremony will feature performances from Moonee Valley Brass Band. Mr Harry Youens, acting president of the Essendon RSL, will also be present. Refreshments will be served at the Civic Centre across the park following the ceremony.
The Youth Week Festival will also be happening at Queens Park on the same day, from 10am to 8:30pm. Live music performances will stop between 2:55 and 4pm in a gesture of respect for Anzac Day.
