“The Shoe Horn Sonata” at Clocktower

(http://www.clocktowercentre.com.au/)When the Japanese invaded Singapore in 1942, 65 Australian nurses were trapped. They were the first Australian women to serve in battle … and the first to die. THE SHOE HORN SONATA is a powerful play about these women, their triumph, their friendship and their survival.

In 1995, the women reunite for the filming of a TV documentary. Sheila and Bridie, who haven’t seen each other in 50 years, come together only to discover there are still wounds to heal. Woven into their half century of separation are a shoe horn and a terrible secret; incredible loyalty and enduring love. This forms the basis of their otherwise unlikely friendship. THE SHOE HORN SONATA is a wonderfully funny and deeply touching play.

The play will be held at The Clocktower Centre on Tuesday 3 April and Wednesday 4 April – at 8pm
