What is Operation Safe Plate? Operation Safe Plate is a program introduced by Victoria Police and their community partners to deter thieves from stealing your number plates. This is achieved by removing the existing fixing screws which attach your number plates, and replacing them with one way security screws.

Programs have run throughout Victoria at shopping centres and other venues. Victoria Police are assisted by volunteer community organisations such as Neighbourhood Watch, Lions Clubs, and others to run the program. The program was successfully run at the Westfield Shopping Centre last Saturday 17 March and will be held again on the 24 March at the same venue between the hours of 10am and 4pm. The Lions Club of Essendon and local Neighbourhood Watch members will again assist police in this operation. The program has been sponsored by Airport West Westfield Shopping Centre and fixings are provided free of charge.
