Tent City at Windy Hill

>Tent CityWindy Hill was transformed into a Tent City last weekend for the annual Relay for Life, in aid of Cancer research.

The Relay commenced with the official opening and “Survivors Lap” which was an emotional occasion. One of the very special moments in Relay For Life was the evening Candlelight Ceremony. Hundreds of candles known as tributes are placed around the track as a celebration of life for cancer survivors and a memorial for loved ones lost. The relay Patron, Essendon Football star Adam Ramanauskas spoke at the ceremony.

Walkers were entertained through much of the event with performances from BABBA and Darryl Cotton. Activities such as treasure hunts, supervised sports activities, face painting, and a charity auction kept the team members entertained.

Because the Relay was held much earlier than normal due to the athletics track being resurfaced, the final total of money raised will not be known for some time as fundraising continues for the next couple of months.

The following two activities will be held shortly and your support would be appreciated:

TEAM PENNISI TRIVIA NIGHT

WHEN : Friday 2nd March at 7.00pm
HOW MUCH : $10/person – teams of 8-10 per table

FRIEND OF A FRIEND FUNDRAISING PARTY
WHERE : Prince of Wales Hotel 506 Mt Alexander Rd, Ascot Vale (Mel Ref 28 K9)
WHEN : Saturday 24th February at 7pm
WHO MUCH : $10 pre purchased or $15 on the night
WHAT ELSE? : Finger Food, Music, Silent Auction, Door Prizes and more ….
