Illustrating history

(Moonee Valley Community News)

STRATHMORE North Primary School pupils are helping shape Aboriginal history in Moonee Valley.

Moonee Valley Council and CityLink have joined forces to recognise the city’s indigenous history through public art.

Aboriginal elder Larry Walsh and three indigenous artists recently visited Strathmore to help grade 5 children portray the lives of their Aboriginal ancestors. The pupils heard stories and translated their interpretations into paintings.

Other students and Friends of Moonee Ponds Creek will also contribute to the work. The completed piece will be displayed on the Talbot Street bridge over CityLink at Strathmore.
