Steven Carroll was one of the leading new Australian writing talents to emerge in 2002 with his break through Miles Franklin Award listed The Art of the Engine Driver. It has also been listed by the Reading Victoria committee as one of the 20 best novels set in Victoria.
His novel is about Glenroy, the 1950s and collisions between the old and the new. It evokes one hot summer night in the suburbs. This book is the first part of a trilogy which continues with The Gift of Speed.
This event is sponsored by Reading Victoria and is free. Refreshments will be provided.
