The Lions Club of Essendon held a Gala Fundraising Dinner on October 5th attended by 140 guests at the delightful venue of Ascot House. This is the first Gala Dinner held by the Club for some time, it will be on again next year in what we hope will become an annual event. Guests included State Member and Speaker of the House of the Legislative Assembly, Judy Maddigan, Mayor of City of Moonee Valley, Jan Chantry and her partner, Corporate sponsors their guests, Lions, families and friends. Lion Peter Harrison, Committee Member of Multiple District for Hearing Dogs, and Lyn Polson with her Hearing Dog, Ollie, were the guest speakers. Musical entertainment from the College of the Arts was enjoyed by all and the evening was packed with fine food, good company and plenty of fundraising action! Thank you to the many local businesses for their support in sponsoring tables and donating prizes. We were delighted with a result of just over $9000 with the greater portion of this destined to the Lions Hearing Dog Program.
