The Playground at the local Autistic School is condemned as it was built in the 1980s from treated pine timber. This leaches Arsenic, one of the preservatives, so is totally unsuitable for children to play in.
As Autistic children absolutely need a safe and well designed Playground to aid their development, especially in co-ordination and interpersonal skills, the Rotary Club of Keilor East has accepted the challenge to raise $37,000 for a new purpose built playground.
To assist in raising funds, a Gala Dinner and Auction is to be held at the ULTIMA FUNCTION CENTRE on Friday October 20th commencing at 6-30pm. The all inclusive price (yes, including a 3 course meal, beer wine and soft drinks) is only $60 per head. Major sponsors are Harvey Norman and many electronic appliances, TVs of all types, Computers, Screens etc will be auctioned so many bargains will be available!
The Rotary Club is being greatly assisted by students completing their Diploma in Events Management at the William Angliss Institute of TAFE.
This wonderful evening has the enthusiastic support and sponsorship of both the Niddrie and Centerway Traders groups.
