Local traffic bottlenecks.

Work to upgrade the Tullamarine-Calder interchange has knocked it from the head of the list of worst traffic bottlenecks in Moonee Valley.

But the city’s north still claimed two of the top three intersections that rile motorists in the 2006 RACV Leader Redspot Survey, designed to pinpoint Victoria’s worst traffic bottlenecks.
Moonee Valley drivers named the roundabout at the intersection of Melrose Drive, Matthews Ave and Mascoma St, near Tullamarine Freeway in Airport West, as their worst nightmare. They called for changes to the intersection, to ease difficulties with right and left turns in the morning and the afternoon peak rush.
Other Redspots were the Bulla and Keilor roads roundabout in Essendon and the railway crossing at Buckley and Rose streets in Essendon. Motorists suggested a bridge or tunnel and a ban on turns at the crossing…..more
