Not just content to make their mark on paper, many of the reporters who passed through the old Moonee Ponds courthouse sought a more permanent presence.
Essendon Historical Society is now documenting the many names that were crudely carved into the courthouse press bench by hacks from newspapers as diverse as the defunct Argus, The Star and The Herald, and more recent publications such as the Herald Sun and The Age.
But society president Lenore Frost said it was not just reporters who felt the need for immortality….more
