Gather as one to celebrate a living legend
Saturday, August 19th will see Essendon play Hawthorn at The Dome. But this will be no ordinary game of football. It is the James Hird Celebration’ game – an evening where Essendon fans will gather as one to celebrate the brilliant career of the club’s greatest living player James Hird. It may yet be the final home game Hird plays in the famous number five.
Season over for two young Bombers
The 2006 season has come to a premature end for two young Bombers with Andrew Lovett and Henry Slattery set to undergo season-ending surgery. Lovett has a cracked bone in his hand – an injury he sustained against Sydney – while Henry Slattery will have an arthroscope on his hip.
