In the past 12 months several loyal and dedicated members of Essendon Rowing Club has put their time into assisting local members of the community learn how to successfuly enjoy the most exciting, energetic and thrilling sport/fitness workout ever invented…ROWING!!! Thanks to Richard Peers and John Seale (just to name a couple) for fdriving this program to where it is today. Learn2Row@ERC is an excellent way to get fit, keep fit or even learn a new sport.
Essendon Rowing Club offers members of the wider community an opportunity to learn to row.
The courses are held throughout the year on Sunday mornings over consecutive four week periods. Whilst enjoying the pleasures of rowing on the picturesque Maribyrnong, team work and low impact exercise, you will learn the basics of handling and rowing racing boats balance, timing, and sequence of stroke; terminology, safety precautions and basic exercises for fitness.
You dont need to have any prior rowing experience nor do you need to be a Club member, however you do need to be able to swim at least 50 metres.
The Learn to Row course is an excellent way to make a valued decision for your future, and if you later decide to join the Club, the assigned club boats, the gymnasium and social facilities are all available for your use. There is no obligation to row competitively but within the Clubs structure there is provision for Learn to Row crew members to transition from learn to row class through to non-competitive membership, competitive inter club rowing and beyond.
