ERC Rowers thank Volunteers for Successful Season

Essendon Rowing Club has had enormous success in recent times as a community sporting club based on the Maribyrnong River. Season 2005/06 proved to be the most successful in seasons. Essendon Rowing Club was successful at their own annual 4.2km Saltwater Challenge (male novice quad), the 8.6km Head of Yarra (male and female novice eights), Victorian State Championships (7 State titles including Male B Grade eight), 2006 Australian Masters (16 Gold, 10 Silver and 5 Bronze medals) and six state representatives for Victoria.

In the last week Rowing Victoria released the results of Champion Club. ERC came an amazing second behind Melbourne Rowing Club. The Male squad dominated all categories with division wins in the B, C, and D grade with seconds in A grade (behind M.U.B.C) and E grade.

On behalf of all the rowers the Captain’s team wishes to thank all the volunteers that assisted all squads throughout the season including Rob Wapling, Jeff Walker, Richard Peers, Craig Forsyth, Glenn Bottrell, Barry Gardner, Celeste O’Keefe, Mark Dwyer, Jim Juszefowicz and all the parents, friends and clubs members who supported the rowers last season. This year the clubs goal is to go one better!!!
