The River for Everyone project will be the major project for the year for the Rotary Club of Essendon. The project that involves 14 local Rotary Clubs placing distance, directional, map and information markers, called bollards, along the Maribyrnong River, from Brimbank Park to Docklands is progressing well. The clubs have spent 12 months formulating the project and have now presented it to the 4 councils, Parks Victoria and Docklands Authority that control the Maribyrnong River Trail. A meeting will be taking place with the landowners on Wed 7th July to further discuss the project.
The Rotary Clubs have agreed to fund the distance bollards based on their membership as at the 1st of July. They will be seeking funding and sponsorship for the rest of the project with applications for grants having been sent to Parks Victoria and the Australian Tourism Council.
The next stage of the project will be hands on as the clubs work in teams to properly survey the River Trail in sections.
