Well yet another Moonee Valley Relay for Life has gone off with only the lightest sprinkle of rain. Members from 40 teams congregated at the Moonee Valley Athletics track on Friday 7 April for the 6pm start to proceedings expecting a wet 24 hours. Once again the organising committee used their collective clout, favours and contacts and had all but the most minor of rain held off for at least another year.
A revised entertainment line-up and a reinvigorated mass of teams started the 24 hour “pilgrimage” around the track in a collective effort to raise what is so far around $160,000 this year for the Cancer Council of Victoria to aid in cancer research, education and support services for the entire Victorian, if not ultimately, the global community.
