Athletics Essendon
Local sprinter, Adrian Motthas become the first current member of Athletics Essendon to win the Stawell Gift.

Whilst the club has had other former members who have won the Stawell Gift,such as McManus, Richardson and Brimmacombe, none were current members when they won.

Adrian first commenced running for this club when he was 15. He was ranked the 2nd best sprinter at his school St. Bernard’s and wanted to be the ‘best’. Within 6 months Adrian had won his first Victorian Title the U18 200m (when he had not yet turned 16). He then went on to win a number of Vic sprint titles (U18, 100, 200, U20 100, 200 and U23 100) plus in 2005 obtained a bronze and silver medal in the National U23 championships.

A very competitive person, Adrian trained very hard and enjoyed challenges…..more
