The 2006 Moonee Valley Relay for Life will kick off at 6pm Friday 7 April and go through to 6pm Saturday 8 April 2006. The event will take place at the Moonee Valley Athletics Track (formerly known as the Aberfeldie Athletics Track) Moonee Ponds (Melways: 28 D6). The organising committee are seeking participants by way of teams of 10, plus sponsors for the event.
The Relay for Life is a 24 hour team event to raise funds for cancer research and education. Its 24 hours of fun with the challenge of completing a relay style walk/run in which everyone can participate. Its an event to fight cancer and celebrate life. While the Relay is going on, the community and other team members camping out, enjoying entertainment, food, games and camaraderie create a true party atmosphere.
Relay For Life is a celebration of life for cancer survivors, a memorial for loved ones lost, and a rally for the community in the fight against cancer. It is now the largest not-for-profit fundraising event in the world.
